He was definitely not ready. 59 PAs in AAA may not be enough for him. I watched a few Twins games and his defense didn’t look great (Very small sample)…what I am saying is that there is a good prospect there but still a bit raw.

The Twins have done that a lot, lately.

What’s more, they admitted that Buxton wasn’t ready when they called him up last year, but then gave him the Opening Day CF job before Spring Training started.

Clearly an error in evaluation.

The kid was really struggling and that could be mentally exhausting and negative. The Twins don’t want that. “Rushing” up a prospect when he is not ready can derail his career.

Last year, Texas was in a similar situation, they sent down Odor because he was just terrible. He couldn’t hit. He fixed his swing, his mood, his approach…insert other jargon baseball term while in the minors and came back on fire, and he’s been a very productive player since then.
