I agree it’s not ideal, but I heard they really like Gardner and they want another left-handed hitter in addition.

There post trade deadline lineup would be something like:

9 Eaton
8 Gardner
3 Abreu
B Bruce
5 Frazier
7 Cabrerra
4 Lawrie
2 Avila/Navarro
6 Anderson

Now I heard that when they were closer to 23-10 than where they are now and really I think they only have the pieces for either Gardner or Bruce (plus a lesser bat.)

Gardner not playing CF throughout his prime makes me pretty hesitant to want him to do it when he’s 32.

I’m thinking if Latos pitches poorly against the Nats, Gonzales moves to the rotation against the Royals. Ultimately, I think Ranaudo replaces Latos.

My guess is now they will go all out for Gardner for CF.
