Nick:

Have not won a World Series since 2005.
Last 90+ win season was 2006.
No AL Central since 2008.
No winning record since 2012.

Rebuild, tear down, call it whatever you want. This franchise has been meddling for way too long. Blow it up. Marty34 is right. Jerry collects his paycheck and keeps his investors happy. Anything they win is a bonus. They caught lightning in a bottle 11 years ago and since then they haven't been remotely close to doing it again.

Look at what Rickets is doing around Wrigley, Jerry Reinsdorf hasn't even been able to field back-to-back postseason teams. Ownership is where the biggest differences between these two franchises are.

Reinsdorf has been content to collect a check from the state in the form of the stadium lease for 25 years now while doing the bare minimum to compete.

I think any sane MLB front office living in the 21st Century would finally admit it is time to tear this thing down to the studs and start to look at doing what the Cubs and Astros have done previously. Problem is, the White Sox are not in the 21st Century and still celebrating success they had 11 years ago. The situation starts at the top and trickles down. They have too sweet of a stadium deal to be bothered with their farm system and actually running a team correctly. They go out and hire people loyal to Jerry Reinsdorf. He takes care of his own, hence hiring people like Chris Getz to front office positions that are of actual importance. Otherwise, they hire people from the Royals. Getz checked both of those boxes.

Jerry is the chairman and he's going to have the team run in his image with whatever goals he has in mind on the field, on the farm and financially. That's his right. Unfortunately, for me as a supporter, he's putting a lot of other things first before long term success and the farm system. I've stopped going to games and hardly even watch them on TV any longer. It starts with him and goes down to Kenny, Rick Hahn, etc. Firing Robin Ventura really doesn't solve the major issues they have to face in order to be good. Jerry shows no signs of changing or running the team differently, so White Sox fans have a choice: ignore them or continue to be frustrated.

The Indians appear to be in good shape for years to come. The White Sox could decide to rip it up and start fresh from the bottom up since now would be a good time to do that when you consider that Cleveland may be the only team in the AL Central whose arrow certainly points up right now. You could be ready to field a contender right around the time they maybe start to regress back into the mean. The last thing you want to do is react to the success the team you share town with is having because they aren't in your league let alone your division. They need to be looking at their division and determine a real, concrete plan once and for all.

Appreciate the effort on a difficult task. I just think they've had so much failure trying to piece together a contending team that they need to change their goal from "trying to compete" to "collecting good player after good player."

This offseason presents the best time to begin the restoration plan for this moribund outfit. Deal anything of value outside of Anderson and Rodon netting upwards of 12+ of the best players with 2 or less years MLB experience you can get irregardless of position and let's start to see the light at the end of this tunnel.
