I for one believe it is time to rebuild. But I also believe, that as long as Reinsdorf, his ownership group and this front office is in place, whatever they do won't work. The problems with Sox and there are many. Are the result of Reinsdorf. Reinsdorf loathes spending money on free agency. He keeps Williams employed when he clearly should have been replaced years ago. Reinsdorf does not believe in sabermetrics. And up and until the recent changes in the draft, Sox were always one of the team's that spent the least. There scouting department is one of worst in MLB, see James Shields. So if they do decide to sell, they do not have the minor league system in place to develop the talent they would receive in return. I see this team in a no win situation. And that will be the case as long as Reinsdorf is owner.

A lot of Sox fans don't go to games, so if they decided to tear down and start over, most would be willing to wait a few years for them to be good again. I am not a season ticket holder. I'm lucky if I get to two games all year. That isn't my motivation, though I have attended more games in the years they were actually good (05, 06, 08, 10, 12). Jerry, Kenny and Hahn have to ask themselves are the closer to a championship now with Sale or can they get closer to one by trading him and waiting a bit longer to get there. The value he would yield in return should help them reboot their franchise, right? It doesn't guarantee the talent they receive is going to manifest 100%, but the method they have used in the last few years has not worked either. Doesn't mean it was wrong, but the results have escaped them. Have they self audited themselves enough to perhaps try something different?
