When trading Sale, you would have to start with Matt Garza and or Shelby Miller as the "bar", right?

Quintana isn't going to bring you as much in return as Sale, but he's going to get you some nice enough pieces back that you can work with them.

I would imagine you'd have to be looking for guys with MLB ETAs in 2017 or 2018??

It’s another to enter the season mid-teardown, with Sale and other core pieces hanging around and going through the motions

Hardly. Fans will just take it as the last chance to see their stars playing for their team before they're traded.

The casual fans wants to see winning baseball. Their entire atention is on the Cubs now anyway. The hardcore fans just wants to see progress and they know damn well it's going to take 3 or 4 years - they just want to the team to either crap or get off the pot.

I have no faith in anything Sox say or do. I believe no matter what they decide to do, it will be wrong. They cannot scout or develop talent. So I am dubious they will win under any trade scenario. Plus with the asking price for Sale and Quintana, no team will pay. I fully expect the mediocrity to continue until the day comes when Reinsdorf does and the team is sold to an ownership that will bring in a professional front office and truly fix the problems this organization has.
