That the Sox felt the need to "protect" Goldberg just shows how weak the farm system is. They must be grooming him for a management/coaching position in 2019.

Sale isn't going any where. In fact, I believe Sox will not trade any of the of the premium talent they have. 1. Sox overvalue what they have to offer. With the exception of Sale and Quintana, the rest are nice/okay ad-on pieces to contending team. But they are not game changers. From what the rumors being bantered about, Sox are not going to get, premium level talent they seek for Frazier, Cabrera or Robertson. Also they are asking for the moon for Sale & Quintana. So much that teams are now probably looking Detroit and Tampa. Again, both pitchers are worth a ton. Just not at what Sox are rumored to be asking. Which lead me to point 2. Sox front office and Reinsdorf are more concerned about coming out on the loosing end of any deal they make, tnan the actual trade itself. Sox organization cannot develop or evaluate talent. So any impact minor leaguer they get. WIll probably end up being a bust. Sox minor league coaching system is a joke. They hire way to many former players and make them managers or coaches. Willie Harris new A-ball manager, no coaching experience. Aaron Rowand, AZ Fall League manager, no coaching experience. Chris Getz, Director of Player Personal. Very minimal front office, no coaching experience. But all three are rumored favorites of Reinsdorf.

As long as these type of decisions are made, Mediocrity will continue.
