Sox have some guys with very friendly contracts. They should be trying to move all of them.

There is absolutely a market for Frazier and Abreu. Melky Cabrera is the tricky one. I'm not sure if they can move him, but they should be trying.

frazier's and abreu's contract aren't going to get "settled". and you really don't think there's a market for 3rd baseman? here's a list of guys starting at that position for playoff possible teams:

bal - machado - if hardy is injured or doesn't hit they can move machado to ss.
bos - sandoval - good luck with him even fitting onto the diamond.
nyy - headley - he's not overly good but he has a fat contract so maybe the yanks roll with him.
nym - wright - perpetually hurt, i think frazier could be a good fit for this team. worst case, he could shift over to 1st base since that appears to be problematic.
pit - kang has all types of problems (legal) at this point.
sf - nunez - not sure what to make of him since last year was such an outlier and he faded after the trade.

there are a slew of other teams that are fringy and if they think they could make the playoffs, maybe they trade for frazier sooner vs. later? i don't think the white sox are going to get massive hauls like they just did for the remainder of the guys they trade (i don't think they are moving quintana), but they should be able to get a handle of top 10 prospects from other organizations.

I don't think Abreu nor Frazier get moved until their contracts are settled.

Abreu opting into arbitration really affected his market. If he hadn't done that his remaining years would be a known dollar amount. There doesn't seem to be a demand for 3B right now, witness the fact that Justin Turner is signing for less than Kenley Jansen, despite a history of twice the WAR of Jansen. The Sox might have to wait to see David Wright's recovery before Frazier's market gets clarified.

The article was very informative and great foresight. I believe the whitesox could have a contending team in 2019 if Hahn plays his final trading chips correctly. Frazier, and Abreu need to go fro POSITION players.
