I do see your point, but feel that Hahn is no longer handcuffed. He appears to be a good GM. Time to give him a chance.

The problem in the past was the Sox were so top and bottom heavy. Even if none of these guys reach their top potential they’ll have average guys that they can build around. Getting Sale and Eaton out of the clubhouse needed to happen. You can’t have those two buttholes around when rebuilding. If Moncada is an above average player and just one of those pitchers hits their peak they already won the trade IMO because of the aforementioned “average players.”

Well to be fair to them they’ve recently brought in Steverson as the hitting coach, revamped some of the development staff, hired Chris Getz, and promoted Hostetler all in the past few years. Whether those changes will have a significant impact remains to be seen, but they have at least made some changes there.

The bad part about the rebuild is that it is with the same management team that produced rotten results 4 years running. The owner would have it no other way. Perhaps that is the real problem with the organization. Expecting different results with the same people in place seems foolish.

Best thing about Sale trade is that Sale will pitch for a real baseball team. I once attended a game where he gave up no earned runs, pitched a complete game, and lost 2-0 on two Alexei errors. Couldn’t bear to go to another Sox game after that.
