To me that is an overpay of at least 30 million, probably 40 million. The writer is just finding ways to help the Yankees and looking for suckers.

Harper and Machado will be free agents on the right side of 30 – these are exactly the types of free agents the Sox should target. Scherzer was on the wrong side of 30 and the farm system was too weak to support the draft loss. Offering Rodon and another pitcher for Machado is the right thing to do. Machado will cost 35-40 million AAV and the Sox will have the payroll room to get either one – unless they overpay on a gamble like this Clint Frazier proposal.
