Or make it to the majors the same year they were drafted? Yes, the Cubs were gaming service time in 2015 but I don’t know that anyone was arguing they should get him to the majors “within weeks of signing.”

Regardless, the analogy works–that’s the fastest recent example I can think of.

Most of that was the Cubs delaying the promotion in order to maximize Bryant’s service time to their contention window. He probably could have been brought up within weeks of signing.

I don’t fault the Cubs for it, I’m just suggesting Bryant is a bad analogy for your argument. If Madrigal is as good hit tool wise as Bryant, the Sox would be stupid to not do the same thing the Cubs did. Do not get the player’s service time clock started before the contention window opens if at all possible.
