Second, Defensive metrics are notoriously unreliable. By DRS, Manny Machado was one of the worst shortstops of all time with Baltimore this year…until he was traded to the Dodgers and became an above average shortstop.

By FRAA this year, the following CFs were ahead of Engel:
-Leonys Martin
-Kevin Kiermaier
-Harrison Bader
-Delino DeShields

It’s good to be 5th in the majors in this statistic, you’re probably doing something right, but let’s not act like he’s Eric Davis or Andruw Jones all of a sudden.
