Cactus League play is over, the White Sox have left Arizona to play a pair of exhibition games in San Diego. All the friendship bracelets and braided hair will have to be discarded, along with the shiny 14-13-1 record, the first Spring winning record for the Sox since 2004.

A Brief History of Second and Third Base on The South Side
It’s no secret. As White Sox fans, and even most baseball fans are probably aware, the production that the South siders have seen out of their plethora of second and third basemen has been transient and more times than not, quite ugly. The men penciled into the lineup cards each day and each year lacked […]
Which AL Central team has the best bad pitchers?
The back end of a team’s rotation is usually a hodgepodge of ugly, erratic and mostly incompetent arms. They’re littered with has-beens and never-weres; a gluttony of guys who make fans cover their eyes and cross their fingers, hoping beyond hope that they can make it through five innings — six if they’re particularly lucky […]
South Side Morning 5: Final roster spot battles
One of the most pernicious and frustrating elements of Spring Training coverage is how everything being meaningless for major league regulars turns the focus to the roster drama for players who likely will have no significant impact on the fate of the 2016 White Sox. Well, there’s no respite from that today.
Waiting on the Jose Abreu miracle
“I think about this photo a lot, the travels and trials of Jose Abreu and other Cuban players to come here.” -Mauricio Rubio I have been thinking about this tweet, which is about thinking about this photo a lot, a lot on my own. Jose Abreu‘s career trajectory is…implausible. His first presence in stateside baseball […]

LaRoche Belies White Sox Business
We are impassioned critics of baseball. But in judging the game, most of the time, we don’t want to think of it as a business. This mentality extends from everyday fans to the most powerful judicial body in the land. Baseball is exempt from federal antitrust laws because the Supreme Court didn’t want to think […]
South Side Morning 5: Danks is fixed now
We waited a day so now there should be enough things to actually comment on in the post-LaRoche chaos White Sox world.
It Would Be a Whale of a Tale if Someone Were to Trade for Chris Sale
I’m not certain I’ve ever seen anything like Chris Sale before. From his rail thin frame, to his extraordinarily awkward and violent delivery, to his one month ascension through the minor leagues, to his frequent rage-fueled 98 mph fastballs to his absurdly team-friendly contract, Sale is unique in every sense of the word. On top […]
Spring Training Roundup: Let’s Actually Talk Baseball
To say that White Sox camp has been anything less than eventful thus far would be a vast understatement. During the last week, the events surrounding the LaRoche family and the White Sox have turned the team into media darlings. The week-long fiasco known as “L’Affaire LaRoche” was no longer just a White Sox Spring Training story, it […]
